Daisy Platts, Milly Scotchbrook and Zoe Lock all received selection invites from LASA to swim in the ASA National County Team Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield on October 19th, 2014.
All 3 girls caught the coach at 8am from the Meridian. Once in Sheffield, the girls received their passes to allow them poolside and then had to wait for access to the changing rooms as there was 38 teams taking part from all over the UK!
Finally after warm up, they took their places in the stands with their fellow team mates and 3 coaches from City of Leicester. With faces painted, they were all excited to be swimming in division one. (Leicestershire were promoted last year from division 2.)
After many Mexican/Sheffield waves throughout the crowd and the parade from the teams competing, they were off.
Zoe swam first in the 100m freestyle, in the 12/13 age group with a fantastic time of 1.04.49 - this was her very first time swimming for Leicestershire and she was very proud and excited.
Milly was selected to swim the 100m Breaststroke in the 14/15 age group and was ecstatic to swim a personal best time of 1.13.25 and finish 10th.
Daisy's turn came some 4 hours after warm up, again swimming a terrific personal best of 1.04.28 and finishing 8th in the 14/15 years 100m backstroke.
All 3 girls also swam in Medley relay races with fellow team mates gaining many more valuable points before finally Zoe and Milly swam in the mixed freestyle team grand finale.
A terrific result overall for Leicestershire gaining 275 points overall and maintaining their place in division 1 for next year in 14th position.
Lots of cheery chatter and laughter could be heard on the coach home - Well done girls you did Leicester Sharks and Leicestershire proud!!
