Why? To take part in the Derventio Excel Christmas Cracker swim meet, 2014.
Because who doesn't love to spend 48 hours in a swimming pool with Christmas Day just around the corner?
To celebrate the festiveness of it all, some of the mischievous elves in the club had created 'Guy masks'. See how they shamelessly dishonour our esteemed Director of Swimming!
And not just the swimmers, behold also the parents:
And did it work?
No. They was robbed by Wycombe.
Still, in the pool, the swimmers were scoring PBs left, right and centre as the months of early morning training paid off. Particular congrats to Bradley Knight, Millie Randle and Louis Fenson who all came third in their age categories.
And Leicester Sharks finished a credible 11th out of 20 clubs. Well done swimmers!
Finally, special mention must go to Jane Glover, (pictured above in Santa hat) who selflessly stalked Adam Peaty around the pool throughout the course of one afternoon. This was all done in the name of Leicester Sharks and our upcoming Celebration Evening. Jane diligently watched Adam's every move and finally pounced as the poor guy sat down for a rest.
The result? Adam signed a swim hat for us to auction off at our forthcoming Celebration Evening (Friday evening, 23rd Jan, 2015, Lutterworth Rugby Club). Very exciting indeed.
To be in with a chance of winning the hat, don't forget to get your ticket for the Celebration Evening from one of the ticket touts at your child's training session.
